Meet Dr. Ricky R. Sides

Experienced Chiropractor and Leader in North Carolina

Dr. Ricky R. Sides, the esteemed founder and president of Sides Chiropractic, PA, established in 1981, brings decades of experience and leadership to chiropractic care. Notably, Dr. Sides holds the distinguished position of the first Director of Standards and Enforcement for the NC Board of Chiropractic Examiners, demonstrating his commitment to upholding the highest standards in the profession.

His strong academic foundation includes a BA degree in Accounting from Catawba College (1971) and completion of premedical studies at Wake Forest University. Dr. Sides furthered his education by earning his Doctor of Chiropractic Degree from the National University of Health Sciences in 1981.

Prior to dedicating himself to chiropractic, Dr. Sides gained valuable experience as an auditor for the Ernst and Young CPA firm in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and as the controller of the former Mandala Psychiatric Hospital in Winston-Salem. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to found and serve as president of Managed Chiropractic Services, Inc. in Winston-Salem, which later became part of Partner’s Insurance Company.

Dr. Sides’ commitment to service extends beyond his practice. He has served as a commissioner for the NC Commission for Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities and Substance Abuse Services, and as a member of the Novant Health Triad Regional Board of Trustees and the Board of Directors for the NC State Board of Chiropractic Examiners. He is also a former chairman of the Advisory Board for the Salvation Army in Winston-Salem.

Recognized for his leadership and community involvement, Dr. Sides is a Fellow of the NC Institute of Political Leadership and a Paul Harris Fellow for Rotary Winston-Salem.

His dedication to service is further highlighted by his honorable discharge from the US Army Reserves in 1977 after seven years of service.

Currently, Dr. Sides continues to contribute to his community by serving on the Board of Directors for the Forsyth County Board of Health, the Wachovia Historical Society, and the Trinity Center in Winston-Salem. He also lends his expertise as a member of the Board of Trustees of Winston Salem State University.

Within the chiropractic profession, Dr. Sides has actively participated in shaping ethical and professional standards through his service on the NCCA Ethics and Grievance Committee, the Medicare Committee, the Legislative Committee, and the Veterans Committee.
